The selection for Lymm May Queen and Lymm Rose Queen is happening THIS weekend (28th February) at The Crown Pub Lymm, starting at 3.30pm.
May Queen and Rose Queen roles are open to any Lymm based children (either live in Lymm, or attend a Lymm primary school) who have previously been on the May Queen Retinue for at least 1 year.
Selections are conducted through a tombola draw. One for the May Queen and one for the Rose Queen to ensure that all children have an equal chance of being selected. All children who are present at the selections day that meet the eligibility criteria will have their name put into the draw and our outgoing Queens will pick out a name from each of the May Queen and Rose Queen tombolas.
We then proceed to select the Lady In Waiting’s for each of the Queens through the same process.
This year, for the first time, we are also introducing a new role of the Lymm Prince, who will accompany the May Queen and Rose Queen in representing Lymm in formal occasions throughout the year.
Everyone else will then have the option of being part of the Retinue for each of the Queens.
